 Diameter: 23 mm

This 5 Rupees commemorative coin was issued to commemorate Sri Lanka's triumph in 1996 Cricket World Cup Championship jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Sri Lanka emerged as Champions by beating Australia in the final.

This is a very thick coin similar to the British 1 pound coin of pre-2000 AD era.

Metal: Bimetallic Brass center in Copper-nickel ring
Diameter: 27 mm
This 10 Rupees coin was issued in 1998 to commemorate Sri Lanka's 50th Anniversary of Independence from British Empire (4 Feb 1948). It is Sri Lanka's first and the only bimetallic coin till date.
