Aruba is Caribbean island close to the main land of South-America. Aruba is one of the four constituent countries that form the Kingdom of the Netherlands, together with the Netherlands, CuraƧao, and St. Maarten whose citizens share a single nationality: Dutch citizen.

Obverse side of the coin has watermark of portrait of Queen Beatrix and has 'Koningin Der Netherlanden' inscribed on it which means that it is a Dutch territory.  Queen Beatrix is the head of state of Aruba.

Reverse side has its denomination along with the coat of arms of Aruba.

The monetary system of Aruba is decimal based, with the primary unit of Aruban money being called the Florin.

5 Florin coins were minted during 1995-1999 and were in circulation from 1995 to 2005. This coin was removed from the circulation from 1 October 2005 and the new round 5 florin coin was introduced. Hence this coin is very rare to find.

Where does the name Aruba come from? One of the many theories is that it is said from the Spanish words "oro hubo","Once there was gold" !!
