Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary 1969



Year - 1969
Metal - Aluminium Bronze alloy (92%  copper+ 6% Aluminium + 2%   Nickel)

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi, was born on 2 October 1869. He was the preeminent leader of British ruled India and strong supporter of Non-violence ideology. He was assassinated on 30 January 1948 by Nathuram Godse on the issue of partition between India-Pakistan, one year after India got its independence.
 
On the occasion of birth centenary of M.K. Gandhi ( Mahatma Gandhi), India issued this 20 paise commemorative coin on 3rd October 1969. The other coins issued for general circulation in his set are in the denomination of 50 paise, 1 rupee and 10 rupees.

FAO 25th Anniversary Commemorative (Lotus & sun) 1970


Year - 1970
Metal - Aluminium Bronze alloy (92%  copper+ 6% Aluminium + 2%   Nickel)

On the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Food and Agriculture Organizatiom (FAO) of the United Nations in 1970, India happily participated in the celebration by issuing this coin on 16th October, 1970. Another 10 rupees coin was issued for general circulation, on the same occasion. This coin is one of the reare coins of India.

Fishes forms one of the important food items for the people. People across the world mainly those who live on island heavily depends on fishing for food items and for earning their livelihood. India has got a long sea shore for almost 50% of its border. Hence Fishes have become an integral part of the food.To highlight the role of ‘Fisheries’ on the lives of people, India issued this coin on 16th October 1983.
