The obverse design shows the portrait in left profile of Aristotle (384 - 322 BC), a Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great, is surrounded with a legend which indicates his name in Greek: "ΑΡΙΣΤΟΤΕΛΗΣ".
The reverse design shows the facial value according to the former spelling ("5 ΔΠΑΧΜΑΙ") is encircled by the inscription "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" (Greek Democracy).

In 1982 the spelling "5 ΔΠΑΧΜΑΙ" was changed to " 5 ΔΠΑΧΜΕΣ".

                                         =>

Both the versions are demonetised (discontinued) since 28 Feb 2002.

This coin was minted in the span of 1976-1980. However the actual mintage of coins for circulation was in the years 1976(24,350,000 coins), 1978(17,424,000 coins) and 1980(33,701,000 coins). Look at the significant difference between the mintage in 1978 and other years. There is almost a difference of 7million and 16 million coins. That makes the coin of 1978 rare as compared to other years.
