1 Anna = 4 Paise/Pice = 1/16 Rupee (1/16)
1 Rupee = 16 Annas.

8 Annas
Years: 1919-1920
Metal: Copper-nickel
Diameter: 26 mm
Thickness: 1.8 mm
Engraver: Edgar Bertram Mackennal (obverse)

This coin was introduced in 1919 to replace the silver Half Rupee, because of the increased price of silver. It wasn't very popular and due a large number of counterfeits, it was discontinued in 1920 and withdrawn from circulation. It ceased to be a legal tender in October 1924. The coin shown here is a counterfeit piece.
